The recipe for this slushie is super simple, and really more of a method. Because you’re using so few ingredients, you’ll need to adjust the quantity depending on the taste of your ingredients and what you like. For example, if you have super sweet strawberries, maybe you won’t need as much maple syrup. Want a slushie that’ll pucker your lips? Add more lemon. Use the measurements below as a guide, and follow your tastebuds!

This recipe serves one and is best made in a small blender (I have a Ninja), but you can easily increase the quantity and use a bigger blender! All you’ll need is 2 cups of chopped, frozen strawberries, half a lemon, and some maple syrup. Add the strawberries, the juice from the lemon, and a few teaspoons of maple syrup. Add in a bit of water to get it blending, but not too much, because we want to keep it thick and slushie. Blend until it's a smooth, thick mixture that’s not too thick to drink through a straw.

Maybe you’re thinking, “but, Fiona, isn’t that just a smoothie?”. Yeah, I guess you could call it a smoothie if you want, but I like to call it a slushie because strawberries have a pretty high water content. Either way, it’s delicious.

    Ingredients

    • 2 cups frozen chopped strawberries⁣⁣
    • ½ lemon (juiced⁣⁣)
    • 2 teaspoon maple syrup⁣⁣
    • Water (as needed⁣⁣)

    Instructions

    1. Combine the strawberries, lemon juice, and maple syrup in a blender. This is a single serving, so a small blender works best - if using a larger blender, adjust the quantity up.
    2. Add a couple tablespoons of water to start blending. Add more water as necessary, you want the texture to be thick and smooth, but drinkable through a straw.

    3. Give the slushie a taste and adjust the sweetness and lemon to suit your palate. Enjoy!

It reminds me of the Master Cleanse recipe, which is yucky. I wouldn't use the maple syrup again. I added a few packets of Splenda but you could use whatever sweetener you like.

Yes, a good idea to swap out the sweetener with a something else if you aren't a fan of the lemon and maple syrup flavour combo.
